The 7th Annual Wheels for Meals Ride is going to be held on October 29, 2016 and Attorney Nick Heimlich will be participating in the charity event. The Shadow Cliffs East Bay Regional Park will be the starting point for the ride at 7:00am on the said date.
The 7th Annual Wheels for Meals Ride is a charity event for the Meals on Wheels of Alameda County. The program provides meals to seniors in the county. Each weekday, the program provides more than 2,000 meals. In the process of delivering those meals, they also provide wellness checks to the seniors who stay at home and can no longer venture outside.
The annual ride raises funds for the Wheels for Meals program through the proceeds of the registration of the riders and from the fundraising efforts of the participants. This year, the target is to raise $180,000 through the event. That should be enough for 22,500 meals and for priceless opportunities to tell people that someone cares about them.
More than 2,200 homebound seniors depend on the program to get their hot meals on a daily basis. The life of those seniors would be negatively affected were it not for the program. That’s because Wheels for Meals is not just a food delivery program. It’s also a means of providing something that is just as important as food and that is human contact and care.
Riders of the 7th Annual Wheels for Meals Ride will have an opportunity to help a worthy cause, but while in the process of doing so they can also have fun and adventure at the same time. The ride will have three routes that participants can choose from:
- 70 Mile
- 35 Mile
- 15 Mile
The 70 Mile route is perfect for riders with advanced skills. The 35 Mile route is for those with intermediate skills and the 15 Mile route is meant for whole families to enjoy the ride and even for kids.
All three routes will have plenty of markings and rest stops to ensure that participants will have the best experience during the ride. After the ride, the participants can enjoy a BBQ together booths, entertainment, and refreshments.
On October 28, the day before the ride, there will be packet pick-up event which will be held at the Sports Basement which is located in San Ramon. Complimentary food and drinks will be served during that event and there will also be a raffle and some store discounts offered.
Attorney Nick Heimlich will be joining this event that would be benefiting the Meals on Wheels of Alameda County. He has years of experience as a San Jose litigation lawyer in representing individuals and businesses within the state of California. As a successful lawyer, Attorney Heimlich likes giving back to the community. He participates in events like the upcoming Wheels for Meals Ride and the LETR Bike the Bridges that took place on June 12, 2016 which was held to help the local Special Olympics programs.
