Due to the minimum wage increasing to $16.50 per hour for all employers, regardless of size, this also increases the minimum salary for all exempt California employees. The new minimum salary for exempt workers is $68,640 per year.
There is also a special minimum salary for computer professional employees of $56.97 per hour, or $118,657.43 in annual salary.
Paid Family Leave Changes
A new law will prevent employers from requiring an employee to use accrued PTO (Paid time off) before using California Paid Family Leave (PFL). Paid Family Leave is a state run benefit program which allows individuals to take time off to care for a seriously ill child, spouse, parent or domestic partner and to bond with a new minor child or assist military family members under active duty.
