Is there a minimum size of case?
Generally, Mr. Heimlich’s cases involve more than $35,000 in dispute. This is because someone that is far less is generally not work the attorney’s fees to have Mr. Heimlich handle the matter. Mr. Heimlich’s rates generally range from $400+ per hour as of January 2025.

As to all cases, I generally handle cases worth $35,000 or more in economic damages without including in that $35,000 any attorney’s fees, costs, punitive damages or other indirect damages, or emotional damages (if applicable).

- Employer representation involving former employees (no dollar limit to defend). These representations generally involve defending the employer against claims unpaid wages or missed meal or rest breaks or similar compensation based claims.
- Employer Defense against proposed class actions or Private Attorney General Act Claims.
- Defamation (only if economic damages can be shown greater than $35,000 or client is accused of false and truly heinous acts (like crimes) and client is willing to pay at the hourly rate (no contingency or recovery based lawyer fees).
- Trademark/Tradename/ServiceMark Infringement (people using similar names of products or companies)
- Defense for claims of personal injury If no insurance is involved (this includes Defendants who got into fights or may have been accused of assaulting another person, including sexually) (However, Mr. Heimlich will not handle the criminal part, but he can provide a referral).
- Responding to Subpoenas in a Lawsuit for Third Parties
- Business Breakups or Ownership Disputes of Businesses
- Business Embezzlement (Civil, not criminal side).
- Real Estate Co-Ownership Disputes among non-married parties (like fiancés, friends, or family members other than spouses).
- Commercial Tenant disputes (like tenants who have to break a lease and leave early and need to settle the remaining term of the lease with the property owner).
